{What is a Reiki Heart activation?}

1. {What is Reiki? }
Everybody is born with the innate ability to heal - a life force. There are many wonderful energy healing methods around the world and Reiki is one of them. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing system from the 1900s that enables the healer to funnel universal energy to the recipient to support his natural ability to heal.

2. {How does Reiki work?}
A person with a balanced body, mind, and spirit will naturally sustain a wholesome living by utilizing the universal energy that is available through nourishment from quality food, a healthy environment, establishing a healthy fitness regime, a constructive mindset, and catering to emotional and spiritual needs. But when a person is off-balanced he becomes unwell. Reiki supports his re-balancing on the energetic level in all 3 aspects - body, mind, and spirit. Reiki healers do not 'effort' the healing using their personal energy, but act as conduits that funnel universal energy to their recipients through their hands. The healers also do not 'will' the energy, but intuitively move their hands to where the recipients' bodies need it. It is the recipients' intelligent bodies that will naturally use the energy for healing in whichever ways they deem fit. For example, if a small child suffers a fracture, he does not need to think, demand, or will his cells to do this and that to heal the wound. His body inclines to wellness and recovers naturally with proper support - surgery, stitches, wound care, nutrition, comfort, rest, encouragement, love (which is energy), healing energy or life force, etc.

3. {Is Reiki religious?}
Nope. Reiki is an energy healing system from Japan, originating from its founder, Mr. Usui Mikao. Reiki does take on Japanese cultural influences, but it is non-religious in and of itself.

4. {How should I prepare for a Reiki session?}
Come to the session with an open mind, do inform me in advance if you are sensitive to certain essential oils, candles, sage, incense, etc., or if you have any metallic implants which requires adjustments to the use of singing bowls. Wear comfortable clothes and minimize restrictive accessories. Non-synthetic materials like cotton are great. Make necessary arrangements e.g. settle urgent matters, inform someone that you will be offline for the next hours, so that you can put your gadgets away and go through the session in peace.

5. {What is a Reiki session like?}
I will begin by providing an overview of Reiki if the recipient is new to Reiki. Depending on the chosen type of healing, the recipient may be seated in a chair or asked to lie on the treatment bed. The recipient simply needs to relax, close his eyes and quiet his mind while I proceed with the treatment. We can talk during the session but it is preferable to wait until the session is over. During the treatment, soft music may be played and I may also complement the session with crystals and sound healing. My hands will hover over specific positions of the recipient's body to funnel energy through to the recipient. Recipients who are sensitive to energy, may feel energy running through their bodies, feel sensations of warm or cold, tingling, feel lightness, calmness, etc. Some people may simply fall asleep or feel nothing out of the ordinary. These experiences are totally normal. Once the treatment concludes, I will gently inform the recipient. The session is then complete.

6. {If I cannot feel anything, how do I know Reiki is real?}
Everybody's experience is different because the state of a person is unique to himself. Because everybody has a different level of sensitivity to energy and integrates energy differently, it is not uncommon to feel nothing on a physical level. However, this does not mean that nothing is happening. Energy can be felt tangibly, but it can also work in subtle ways. One does not need to have a tactile sense of energy to benefit from a Reiki session. Some healing comes in the form of mindset shifts e.g. finally feeling at peace in a situation that was uncomfortable previously. So, do give it time and you may be pleasantly surprised!

7. {What should I expect after a Reiki session?}
After the session, some will finally feel energized while others can finally have a good night's sleep. It is important to keep hydrated as the body may undergo detoxification. Some people may experience not-so-comfortable healing responses such as tiredness, flu-like symptoms or loose stools before the eventual improvement. For this reason, it is highly recommended to seek Reiki healing over the course of at least 3 successive sessions to support and the healing adequately. Otherwise, the healing may take a long time and may be more challenging.

8. {How many sessions of Reiki are recommended?}
With reference to 7. {What should I expect after a Reiki session?} above, it is highly recommended that recipients seek Reiki healing over the course of at least 3 successive sessions to support the healing.

9. {Can animals benefit from Reiki? If so, are you offering it?}
Yes, animals can benefit from Reiki and their willingness is indicated by them staying around or moving away when the healer funnels energy toward it. Animal Reiki, to me, is a specialization that requires not only Reiki skills but also a good understanding about the nature of the animals receiving help. I might venture into this specialization the future but for now, I wish to focus on human beings.

10. {Do you conduct distant (a.k.a remote) healing?}
Distant healing is based on the perspective that healing energies come from the source of all energy - a Oneness that some call Source, that is beyond the space-time frame of the physical level. In fact, this applies not only to Reiki but to all energy-healing modalities. Yes, I do offer distant healing. Check out further details under 'Services' tab.

11. {What is a Reiki Heart activation?}
It is the energizing of the heart which helps the recipient to be more grounded, enabling a better state for the recipient to deal with situations in life. I do not perform Reiki Heart activation currently but will most likely do so later on.
